Sports Report 3 - 2019/20
Girls Football Wednesday 8 January 2020 the Year 7/8 girls team set off early to Huddersfield to compete in the EFL Northern Area Finals, representing Bury. This was going to be a day of high level football against some of the best teams in the North representing Barnsley, Bradford City, Huddersfield Town, Leeds United, Middlesborough, Oldham Athletic, Rochdale, Salford City and Sunderland. It was both a challenge and a new experience for the girls. Even with the cold conditions and fast paced games the girls gave a good account of themselves. They played 9 games in total, with a mix of results, winning, drawing and losing, leaving us finishing mid table. The girls should be immensely proud of their achievements, they played every game with the same determination, team spirit and sportsmanship, even though it was a long day they kept...

Year 10 Mock Interview Evening
Every year, we organise a mock interview evening that takes place at Bury Town Hall’s Elizabethan Suite. This year the event will take place on Thursday 13th February 2020 from 6.30pm – 8.30pm. The purpose of the mock interview is to help our pupils to learn how to answer difficult questions, develop interview strategies, improve their communication skills and reduce their stress before an actual job interview. Pupils will be prepared for their mock interview during a Deeper Learning Day on Thursday 6th February, where they will receive support in witting a CV, completing an application form and interview techniques they can use on the evening. We expect all pupils to attend the evening for their 15 minute interview slot. Pupils will need to arrive 10 minutes before their interview, with their CV and covering letter that they will write during the Deeper Learning Day and they will also need to dress smartly.

PE Extra-Curricular Timetable
The new PE extra-curricular timetable for this term is out now.
The Malawi club and Asdan group have been busy planning events to raise money for the children’s home in Malawi that our school supports. During the last week of the Christmas term they took part in a sweet and cake sale, a quiz, a cake competition and a Christmas jumper day, all with great prizes. As well as raising...
Reverse Advent Calendar
Over the advent period 8RY completed a 'reverse advent calendar' to support Rock FM's Mission Christmas appeal. This meant that each morning a pupil who had a chocolate from the calendar had to return with either a gift or £1. As a result of this the form and Miss Hulme raised £30 to buy gifts and donate these for disadvantaged children in the North West, aged from 0-18 years old. We did this to spread some Christmas spirit and help those less fortunate than us.
Street Dance Club
The Bury CE High School Street Dance Club has been excellent this half term with many new students joining and being a great asset to the team. All students who attend are improving their dance skills week on week and always come with positive attitudes. They are going to continue working with Miss Mather to prepare for any future competitions or performances - well done to everyone in the dance club for the brilliant work!
The charities group have made a donation of £140.00 to Red Door Bury. It is a charitable organisation supporting homeless and vulnerable individuals in Bury. They provide food, clothing support and advice in helping people find accommodation and access other services available to them. £140.00 has been donated to Toilet Twinning. This enables people living in poor communities like the Congo to have clean water and basic sanitation along with educating the community about hygiene. £160.00 has been donated to an orphanage in Malawi. The money was raised from the Christmas fund raising activities organised by the charities group in school.
