Careers Information for Pupils
Your Careers Journey at Bury CE High School
As a school, we are committed to helping you become the best you can be. We know that making decisions about your future can sometimes feel daunting, especially when you are asked to think about jobs, subjects, and next steps.
That’s where we come in.
Throughout your time at Bury CE High School, you will have lots of opportunities and experiences to help you explore your interests, learn about the world of work, and make choices that are right for you.
From Year 7, you will start to explore career ideas and learn about different jobs and pathways, including which careers are in demand and how they link to subjects you enjoy. As you move through the school, you will be supported to think about option choices in Year 9 and Year 10, and your post-16 next steps in Year 11, such as college, sixth form, apprenticeships, or training.
You will:
-
experience careers education within your SHINE lessons
-
speak to employers from a wide range of sectors
-
take part in assemblies and presentations about further and higher education
-
experience a mock interview
-
attend a careers fair
-
visit colleges and universities
-
receive impartial one-to-one careers guidance from a qualified careers adviser
-
complete work experience
and much more!
Our aim is to help you feel confident, informed, and prepared to take your next steps and choose a future that you will enjoy and succeed in.
Involving your parent/carer
We know that parents and carers play an important role in your decisions, so we can arrange appointments where you, your parent or carer, and the school meet together to talk through your options and next steps. If you would like more advice or support, speak to Mr Halden, our Careers Adviser.
